Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra Autumn Concert

We are delighted to welcome the nationally-acclaimed Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra to perform an evening concert in the beautiful surroundings of Christ Church, Waltham Cross.

Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra features six different types of saxophone, from the tiny sopranino through the more commonly seen soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, to the giant bass sax. The orchestra plays a varied repertoire that ably demonstrates the versatility of the saxophone. From light classical music, jazz and big band favourites to modern pop tunes, there’s something to appeal to all musical tastes.

Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra is based in the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough and was nominated for a prestigious national Royal Philharmonic Society Innovation Award in 2023. They perform regularly across the Midlands and have joined forces with some of the few other saxophone orchestras in the UK to play as far afield as Aberdeenshire, Macclesfield and the Isle of Wight. This will be their first concert in Hertfordshire.

The concert is being organised in conjunction with Christ Church’s Director of Music, Samuel Beddard, a former Phoenix member and currently a student of saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Samuel will also be performing with the Orchestra on the day.

Tickets are £10 each (£5 for full time students and under 16s) and there is a fully licensed bar.
